Help Y’s Men International in the
Fight Against Malaria
Join us October 24, 2008 for a worldwide
celebration launching the Y’s Men International campaign to raise funds as
part of the Roll Back Malaria Partnership. DESCRIBE YOUR EVENT HERE; INCLUDE
LOCATION AND DETAILS
The Roll Back Malaria partnership is a global effort to fight against
malaria launched by the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations
Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and
the World Bank. The RBM Partnership and its wide range of partners bring
expertise, infrastructure and funds into the fight against the malaria.
Malaria is a parasitic disease transmitted by the bite of infected
mosquitoes. In Africa, malaria is the leading cause of death among young
children, killing a child every 30 seconds. Insecticide-treated mosquito
nets, if used properly, successfully prevent mosquitoes from infecting
people with this disease, and can reduce deaths in children by as much as
20% from all causes, not just from malaria.
The goal for Y’s Men International is to collect contributions to purchase
20,000 treated nets and distribute them in a country of Africa.
